John Donovan Needs to Get His Monkeys on the Same Page

I'm not sure which 4th grade braintrust pieces together the SI.com columns that are labeled "John Donovan" and have a picture of some random dude's half-graying mug at the top, but they oughtta work on the consistency of their prose:

Adam Dunn is being shopped, but it'd take a beads-for-Manhattan swap to
change the fortunes of this team. Even in that division.

But and then just 3 days ago, the John Donovan Manu-factory wrote this in an article about how wide-open the NL Central is:
The Reds score more than 4 1/2 runs a game, fifth in the NL. If their pitching
is there, the Reds will improve. One good trade could put them in the running.
Proof that sportswriters don't really pay attention to anything they write? I'ma think so.

can we get some RFDD analysis of the griffey-to-the-cubs chatter?

I mean, Griffey's name comes up in trade talks pretty much every single year, dating back to before he was even born, I think. So I'm not sure how seriously the Cubs rumors should be took-en.

Also, Dunn has already been mentioned as a possible target of like 28 teams, including the Reds, who may well trade him just so they can trade FOR him to provide a mid-season boost and get the season...er...back within several kilometers of being on the track.

And the other thing about Griffey is that he's rapidly approaching 600 homeruns, and pretty much the only reason we signed him for 9 years in the first place was for the slight attendance boost we'd get when he approaches homerun milestones. So I'm thinking he's unlikely to go.

Josh Hamilton has been clean for too long. And I think the rest of team is affected by trying to keep drugs out of the clubhouse for Josh's sake. The Reds should trade Dunn for Chris Henry. He'd play a mean CF with that speed and would rejuvenate the sorely lacking drug culture on the Reds.

Good point, midre-
-and I'd like to add that he would ALSO rejuvenate the Reds' sorely lacking concealed firearm, invalid driver's license, driving w/o auto insurance, aggravated firearm assault, personal conduct violation, alcohol provision to minors, and 16 year old boy assault cultures as well as their not-so-sorely lacking DUI culture (although it's been a while for Freel...).

What the fuck is a "Personal Conduct Violation"? I think its the name of the porn store I'm about to open.

Hahahahahahaha- i think the "personal conduct violation" was actually the term the NFL uses to refer to any action that sullies the name of football, so maybe it didn't belong there.

But you should open your porn shop right across from the bar that changed it's name to "Odell's" right after a certain middle linebacker was pulled over nearby and charged with a DUI.
